Wind and gust speed hazard data identifies areas across the UK and Ireland that are prone to high levels of prolonged high wind and gust speeds.
There are three hazard maps available for 10, 25 and 50 year return periods:
- UK gust
- UK wind
- Irish wind speed
The hazard scores are attached to a gridded dataset and show the gust or wind speed associated with a given return period at all grid points.
For example, hazard maps can be produced to show the gust speeds associated with a 50-year return period, which corresponds to the gust speed that would be expected to occur, on average, every 50 years.
